App Review: SmackTalk

Posted on 28 July 2009 by forrestcohen

Untitled-3

SmackTalk is a great app to annoy your family members and your younger siblings will love it!  This app changes the pitch of your voice to make it sound like a cute animal and it mocks everything you say. If you swipe left/right you can choose 4 different animals – Guinea Pig, Jack Russell Terrier, a kitty and a Chihuahua! It is a very simple app but it includes a few options like changing the pitch of the voice (freaky to squeaky) and you can even repeat your last recording. I must say this is the most entertaining app ever! Find it in the app store for $0.99.

Hulu App for Iphone?

Posted on 27 July 2009 by KC

The launch of Apple’s 3.0 firmware for the iphone has inticed developers to add and begin working on great new apps for the iphone. With just a few streaming apps in the appstore, Joost and CBS, it seems as if Apple may begin allowing applications to stream movies and television shows.

So, who’s next? Hopefully Hulu! If you haven’t heard of Hulu then you’re not from this planet! With the wide variety of shows they offer and pretty funny commercials to promote the website, it’s hard to have missed out on Hulu.

The website offers streaming of television shows, movies, and trailers. It had been rumored about a year ago that they were working on an application for the iphone but Hulu denied it.  This year, it looks like this may be the case though.

OS 3.0 allows developers to add streaming into their apps so Hulu will  be able to stream within the app and not force users to watch from safari.

There has been no definite release date of this app but when it is finally released, I will be one of the first people to download it. There has also been no word on the price of it but since the website allows for free streaming I’m guessing that the app will also be free and will be paid by advertisements within the stream.

Doodle Jump App Review!

Posted on 26 July 2009 by ipodappsworld

Developer: Lima Sky
Price: $0.99
Version Reviewed: 1.2
Thoughts over the app: 5.0
User Interface: 5.0
Overall Rating: 5.0

The name of the application says it all. Doodle jump is just like papi jump plus except its 10 times better. The object of Doodle Jump is to get your lime green doodle as high as you can by jumping onto green ledges, dodging other spiky/bad doodles, and hitting the springs that will shoot you even higher up. You tilt your iPhone/iPod to steer your doodle on to different ledges. There is no career mode in this game but let me tell you that this game can get pretty addicting. You can view the leader boards from around the world and you can view your local leaderboards. One thing that you don’t want to do when playing this game is jump on the brown blocks because they will make you fall thus ending your game. You also want to avoid the other doodles as I mentioned earlier as they will also end your game. This game also has great sound effects which make the game very original. There are no framewright issues that I have noticed with this game yet. Basically this is one of those that you just want to pick up and play all the time and try to beat your won high score and maybe even the world’s top 100. Overall I would definitely recommend this game to you guys as it is a must get for the price of only $0.99. It has extremely smooth gameplay and great graphics. I have seen a lot of other games like this for example papi jump plus but this one would definitely take the gold. This game also added the option to play as pocket god characters in their newest update which is very cool. I cannot wait for future updates and I hope you guys definitely go check this game out.
Please go ahead and post a comment down below of what you think about this app.

Knights Onrush: castle defense at its best

Posted on 18 July 2009 by Luqven

I had recently begun to use AppSniper again, it tracks any app that goes on sale in the appstore, when I saw that Knights Onrush was on sale for 99 cents. I have at least 4 different castle defense games already, but this one i decided to buy since it was the only one that had been in the top ten paid apps list for this long.

From the start I could tell it was a good buy. It had what most apps are missing which is, believe it or not, a guide. What a lot of developers don’t get is that, even though some games are of the same genre, say castle defense, no two are completely the same. Sure, every castle defense game has purchasable upgrades. But, it would have taken me hours to understand that I HAD to sacrifice the little knights in order to buy stuff, and i couldn’t just mercilessly fling into the air. The guide also goes into detail on how to use every power up, There are about 12 of them,  and tips on how to kill certain enemies in order to cause the most damage.

The actual gameplay is great as well. There are three modes: Campaign, Endless Siege, and Madness. The only difference between the three is that campaign give or takes from you certain advantages depending on the map, and that madness gives you a great gate from the start but starts at a much higher difficulty. The campaign is challenging and has plenty of levels. But after a while it gets frustrating because you end up having the buy EVERYTHING after you get used to having it from the start. One great thing about the game is the variety of enemies. They range from catapults to wizards who can cast protective shield onto themselves.

All In all Knights Onrush is a great game, and coming from Chilling its comes with no surprise. You will be playing this game for a month at least, and for 99 cents ( if still at that price) its an amazing buy
