In this video I show you how to jailbreak iOS4 for iPhone 3g and iPod Touch 2g with redsn0w 0.9.5 on windows or mac. To download redsnow go here or here.
You will need iTunes 9.2 for this. You can get through Apple software update for here.
Here’s how to jailbreak with todays release.
1. Download the GM build.
2. Install 4.0 final through iTunes.
3. Run redsn0w and when you click browse to find the firmware choose the GM build.
4. It should be jailbroken know.

For iPhone 3G, I get a firmware not compatible message. My itouch 2G worked no problem

Worked like a champ on my ipod touch 2g. It's confusing in that the rev of IOS4 all look the same as they have the same file name but but some are different than the others as they have different sized files.
I have just updated to the original IOS4, and im having the same problem, its telling me cannot recognize or not compatible? what can i do?

yea this worked for me but was a bit tricky at first. i tried restoring to ios4.0 via itunes and i got "firmware not comatable", so then i downloaded the ios4 ipsw, saved it to my desktop then downloaded it through itunes that way (hold shift then click restore on itunes). then you run redsnOw and ull use the same ios 4 ipsw to do the jail break, its not that hard once you figure it all out. also once its jail broken you can also unlock it for T-mobile and such.
