Rock Your Phone are positioning themselves as a complete jailbroken package management solution, from paid to free packages. They actually list all packages from all default Cydia sources.
Opening up the main screen of Rock shows a “Rock compared to Cydia/Icy” (picture below) screen, which lists some of its big differences with the two other players in the jailbreak package management arena. Speed-wise, RockApp has done some awsome things to increase performance.
The reason Rock is so fast is that their servers watch the default repositories Packages files, and keep a current combined list at all times. Then, when you open RockApp to check for updates, instead of checking each repo’s Packages file for updates, Rock Central is checked to see what updates are new since the last time you updated, and only those changes are downloaded to your idevice. This makes Rock so much faster than all the other competitors (being cydia and icy).
Another amazing feature is called, simply “Backup”. Backup, every time you install a new package, or even open up the app, it makes a log, of every installed package on you device. This is put onto a database, with your “rock id” (email adress). So this means, that if you have to re-jailbreak, or lose all your packages for some reason, you can just press restore form backup, and Rock will re-install EVERYTHING.
You can also add custom repos, just like you would in cydia, you can add all the best repost like sinful and touch-mania! This puts it a notch above the rest, being faster, better looking, provides a backup option, and an overall much easier experience, i vote Rock one of the best things out there jailbreaking wise.
Earlier i posted on how i managed to use my bb data plan on an iphone, but it was a bit vague and complicated. So, i have consolidated the process into a seven minute seven step guide (seven minute if you have an unlocked and jailbroken iphone already):
Tutorial: How to Get Your AT&T Data Plan Working On Your iPhone:
Yes, the impossible happened… i switched to a blackberry. But, don’t kill me just yet! See, i TOTALY knew I could use my BB data plan on my iphone before i switched…kinda. Anyway, I got nostalgic one day and decided to do some research…and according to the following links (crackberry) i can simply swap sims between my iPhone and BlackBerry! I just need the following things:
- a legit BB data plan (bbm and such)
- an unlocked edge capable iphone
- a sim card ejector tool (or a paperclip)
- and enough intuition to know how to pull the sim out of my bb
I was a but rusty on how to unlock my iPhone so i simply watched one of the thousands of videos (the one i watched). After I unlocked my iPhone I just turned off my BB, got the sim card out (after about 20 minutes) and popped it into my iphone. After a reboot VOILA! I had a data capable, call making, blackberried iPhone!
Wanna see me go through the process? Watch the video! :
